"ALCHEMY"
When MIA invited me to work on the theme of alchemical quintessence, I was immediately captivated by the concept of transmutation: "Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed," as the famous 18th-century chemist Lavoisier famously stated.
Through this series, I sought to express the transformation of matter and the quest for the absolute by reinterpreting symbols from a modern perspective, within a context that is both timeless and contemporary. I drew inspiration from social media imagery and modern objects—constantly transforming and reinventing themselves—while grounding the work in the primal origins of nature and the mystical.
I also added a touch of humor and a pinch of "alchemical salt" to avoid taking things too seriously. As Socrates said, "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing."
Breaking free from convention, I experimented with various styles and imaging techniques, blending them harmoniously to breathe new life into them.
